About Monica
Being raised on a farm is one of the greatest blessings of my life. My childhood was filled with family, animals, tractors, 4‑H, FFA, gravel roads, and all that comes with being a farm kid.

After leaving for college, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling. For more than 30 years, I’ve worked in rural behavioral health, both providing direct care and leading programs in an administrative role.
In 2016, I founded Eyes on the Horizon Consulting with a mission to expand access to care and reduce stigma around mental health in rural communities. I now serve as one of Minnesota’s Ag Mental Health Specialists, counseling farmers and their families, and I travel across the country—virtually and in person—sharing practical, real‑world training on wellness, resilience, rural mental health, and farm/ranch stress.

Anyone connected to agriculture needs a clear understanding of how today’s pressures affect farmers, ranchers, and farm families emotionally. Growing up on a farm, Monica has firsthand insight into daily operations and the unique experiences and barriers producers and their families face. Paired with more than 25 years in the behavioral health field, this perspective gives her a deep, practical understanding of emotional stress on the farm.
